Ohio State has 4 major suspension in their game vs Virginia Tech, so should they lose that game or any game this year and have 1 loss can they still get in the playoffs?
Scott says yes. If they lose 1 game it will probably be at the end of the year and with all their marketability this year they should not be held out of the playoffs with 1 loss. The NCAA wants that national stage to be enhanced by having the defending champs in the playoffs.
Pauly feels that their best shot is to have that one loss come vs Va Tech when their players are out. Scott does feel they will be fine for that game as they are a deep team and have a lot of prep time before the opening game, plus Ohio State has the added revenge for getting embarrassed at home by the Hokies last year.
On to some other big 10 talk. Scott doesn't feel that Nebraska will ever get back to their glory days, but being a huge fan of them he will not bet against them. Back when Nebraska had Tom Osborne around they were getting much better recruiting class than they are now. That is what has kept this team in mediocrity. Scott doesn't feel that Mike Riley will ever be able to get the QB that is needed to contend for national or Big 10 titles. They have skill position players, but just need a QB.
Scott feels that Wisconsin is a sleeper. They will be big dogs vs Alabama to open the season, but the rest of their schedule is very manageable and it sets them up well to be in the Big 10 conference championship.
