Here is my thoughts on SMU and Uconn. In saw someone in here say that the SMU offense has more firepower than the Huskies and i don't see that. SMU is an uptempo team that averages 75.7 plays per game on offense and yet they still average just under a TD per game. Uptempo offenses are supposed to give the offense and advantage over the defenses, but not with this team. they just don't have the weapons to score, even in an uptempo offense. Their offensive efficiency is poor and their yards per point is a horrible 38.2, which is last in the nation.
Now Uconn averages just 12.8 ppg, but they also do so on 10 less plays per game than the Mustangs dog and while their yards per point ranking is 126th in the nation it is still at 22.6, which is 16 better than the Mustangs. Both offenses suck, but UConn does does more than the Mustangs and with much fewer plays per game.
Now what really makes the Huskies far better than the Mustangs is their defense that ranks 17th in the nation in yards allowed (325 ypg) and 25.7 ppg vs SMU's defense that is last in the nation in both yards allowed (548 ypg) and points allowed (48 ppg).
I am not saying that taking the points with UConn here is the right play, but I do like the under in this game. Uconn won't put up more than 14 points in this game, while their Bob Diaco led defense is good enough to hold the Pirates in the 30's in this game. Someone else in this thread said it right that teams now have plenty of film on the ECU offense and I feel if anyone can find a way to slow it don it is Bob Diaco. I also look for that deliberate UConn offense to slow down the ECU offense as well.
I like the under here, but hey I have been wrong before. LOL
BOL All.
