Ok so I have been really waiting for this game since these two powerhouses matched up last year. I had Umass last year in this game and little did I realize, that win would be Umass last win to this date. Miami OH has not won a game since 2012 and went on to give us a dream season in 2013.
Line opened Miami OH -4.5, down to -3.5 now. Obviously both teams bad. I think Umass is a little better than Miami OH. Umass seems to have made some big improvements from last years team. The QB play has been better, they got a key RB back last week to help with the run game. Umass QB actually a talented player that got stuck behind Cato at Marshall. Also Umass has not been afraid of playing some big opponents since coming into the FBS and I think this has really helped them. Umass really "should have" beat BG last week, two fourth quarter turnovers. But that is what bad teams do I suppose. Umass probably "should have" beat Vandy as well. Either way I think this team is prepared, ready and really looking forward to this game. Miami OH no doubt has to be thinking this is there best chance at a win this year, but from what I can see they have really been overmatched in most of their games. Miami OH not really dynamic at all on offense, with no running game at all. However I know Umass running stats even worse. I am hoping that the return of Abrokwah with a game under his belt will really help them this week. Umass D has really struggled against teams when they just line up and pound the running game. Miami OH not going to do this.
I will acknowledge that Miami OH has played better the last couple weeks, competitive against Buffalo and Cincy. Just do not see them winning this game and feel getting Umass with more than a FG is a solid play.
Miami OH may still have a shot of a win after this getting Kent st at home, but they also could give us another perfect season.
