I like UNC in this spot.
I like to back a team in this situation with a home game after two road losses where they failed to cover.
Also looking deeper at VT since the Ohio st win, they have been very average. Their QB play has not been good, actually even in the Ohio St game it was not that great. He has 9 TD to 10 INT, even throwing INT against some bad defenses the last two weeks. UNC defense probably does not have to be great in this spot to stay in the game. The VT running game has not been anything special either at this point. If I was to back VT in this spot I would have to think the defense is going to not give up many points. As bad as UNC is they still can score points.
I thought UNC played a good game last week against Clemson. Thought they bounced back from an embarrassing loss. UNC started the game in just horrible fashion, fumbling on their first possession and giving Clemson a short field. Then they managed to give up a safety in the second and they were down by 15 at the half. They at least competed and moved the ball in the second half. I think the QB play from Clemson was just too much to overcome. Also think that QB for Clemson could turn out to be a very special player.
The fact that this line has been hovering -2, -1.5 and does not seem to be moving toward UNC makes me think that is the side to back. Does not seem to be much early attention on the short favorite or surely we would be seeing closer to -3 by now. Early money would probably want to grab the short favorite early as that side will probably get the public attention. Just my thoughts.
