In what did Bettors Learn part deux, Scott, Andy and Steve take a look at which top CFB teams that struggled in week 1 should be worried moving forward. The teams in question are Alabama, Ohio State, UCLA and Florida State, who were all sluggish in winning their games.
Andy isn't all concerned about UCLA, who had a tough scheduling spot. Alabama is a team that was possibly expected to take a step back with all the rebuilding that that needed to be done. Florida State did face a team that many were overlooking, but Gundy is an excellent coach and recruiter and did a fine job getting that team ready for Florida State.
Ohio State is the team that Andy would be most concerned with as the loss of Miller showed in game 1. Even though there is a concern with Ohio State, they still could win 9+ games because the conference is not all that strong overall.
Scott feels the OSU coaches kind of blew it by call wide runs vs Navy, but when they started pounding the ball up the middle vs Navy they were able to move the ball consistently.
The team that Scott is least worried about is Alabama. The Tide racked up 500+ yards of offense in the game and the staff really adjusted well to the West Virginia uptempo game in the 2nd half. Alabama recruits well so they should be fine, especially as the season goes on.
As far as UCLA they need to block better on the OL or they will lose a few games this year. UCLA does catch a nice break in their schedule as they will not have to face Texas with Ash and then will face a Washington team on the road that may be a bit overrated. Steve says as far as UCLA is concerned, they are done. The OL is just horrible right now.
