Before everyone starts SCREAMING that I'm anti my home team, let me remind all, I was the one last year that was doing the screaming about how UNLV OVER 3 wins in 2013 was the best bet on the board, AND how Bobby Hauck was a good coach and should be retained.
Fast forward to 2014. The HOMERS are out in force this year. UNLV Is going to win 6 games! Our progame is back! We will be contending for Bowls most years going forward!
Uh.............no.
UNLV made some nice strides last year, but the schedule set them up for a home run year, and they got 7 wins vs. East Cupcake, West Cupcake and Punching Bag. They had 7 home games, and took full advantage of teams being down.
Let's look at 2014. Uh-oh! Academic problems had them hit with a Bowl Ban, that then got lifted. Not a good distraction. A head coach that went ALLIN, no doubt worked 24/7 all year to save his job, and likely didn't see his family all summer/fall.........efforts like that just cannot be (and shouldn't be) repeated year after year.
UNLV won 2-2-2-7. Forecasting "6" is ridiculous IMO.
LOOK AT THIS SCHEDULE!! Where are the wins coming from?
9/6 No Colo.
9/13 N IL? I don't think so........
10/4 @SJst .........3rd straight road game..............I don't think so........
11/1 New Mexico
11/8 AF
BOTH teams have revenge...........UNLV goes 1-1
11/22 @haw.......by then the season will be lost.............
Don't forget how hard it is to recruit players to play in the UNLV Desert, we still have not solved the problem that our home stadium is out in the middle of nowhere (we keep hearing about a new Campus Stadium one day), and everything broke right in 2013.
