I really hope you'll bump this thread during the first week in the fall!
Actually, this pick sucks. After digging deeper into Eastern Washington, I want nothing to do with Texas Tech -31. Abort. I will now change the title of this thread. Man, thank God I don't live in Vegas. I was ready to jump all over this at first glance. Come to find out I was thinking of the wrong team. I thought E. Washington lost most of their starters but they actually have 15 starters back, including Matt Nichols - one of the best QB's in Division 1-AA. Sorry for the mix up, I just started breaking down these schools. On the bright side, I love Eastern Washington +31 against Texas Tech. lol
NOTE: When I first saw the lines, I orginally liked Texas Tech to kill Eastern Washington. However after looking at the matchup much closer, I have decided that 31 is way too many points in that game.
Play # 1
Ball State -20You are going to see the name Ball State a lot in my selections this fall. I love this team and I think they are going to build on last year's International Bowl appearance. I live in Boston and I can tell you that Northeastern has one of the worst football programs in America right now. Hell, they almost axed the sport this summer but now the school says it has rededicated to building up the program. Good luck. The Cardinals are loaded on offense with QB Nate Davis, WR Dante Love and TE Darius Hill. The defense should be better against the run this season but that will matter little in this game. Ball State will simply score way too many points for an undermanned Northeastern team to keep up. I expect the Cardinals to score close to 50 points in this game, while the Huskies will be lucky to score 50 points combined in the month of September.
Ball State will most likely be a top play for me if it stays close to this number. I talked to someone today who has followed Northeastern football closely for 20 years and he told me they won't be able to stop anyone through the air this season at the Division I-AA level, nevermind a bowl team like Ball State with NFL prospects on offense. Davis and Love will both have huge days against the Huskies.
Tommy, I really hope you bump this thread come football season. I'm looking forward to your insight into the games.
Thanks Tommy

Looking forward to your picks Tommy, I do a lot of 3 team teases in both college and pro football and have had some pretty good succes at it. Looks like Ball St. will be the first leg in one of them.

Thanks Moneyman. The reason I like Ball State so much is because I think 20 is a solid price with the huge gap in talent here. Plus, Ball State isn't a big enough school to take anything for granted. They know they can have a special season in 2008 but a lot of their top players are seniors and will be gone next year. This type of opportunity doesn't come along often for a school like this so I can't see them looking past anyone. And you live in Boston so I don't need to tell you about Northeastern and the putrid team they will be fielding this season. Mo Murray was their entire offense and he's gone now. They'll be lucky to win three games all year at the Division I-AA level.
