Well I covered little brother yesterday with my look at the Big 12. Will head upstairs today and check on things with the big guy. Each week I take a look at the week and upcoming games. No script here, just some very random thoughts I have regarding the teams. I always emphasize I have no agenda. No axe to grind. So if I step on any tender toes sorry, it was not meant that way. Some people take their teams as seriously, or more so, than their religion.
I believe in life it is best to get things that you dread or find uncomfortable out of the way asap. Deal with it. That is what I always taught my kids and I try to put into practice what I preach. So, with that being said I will dive right in and address my Missouri Tiggers first off. I will call them Tigers once again when I feel they have earned it, lol. Most of you know I reside here in the heart of Mizzou country and have been a fan for years. Hell, truth be told more than that. I have put my money where my mouth is. I've written checks to that program. Last saturday was homecoming in Columbia. Alumni as always swarmed the town and it was a sunny beautuful day here in mid missouri. The whole thing was right off a Norman Rockwell picture. But then the game kicked off. The Blue Raiders from Middle Tennessee State could not have cared less about any homecoming festivities. They beat the Tiggers on their own home turf. Much of the stadium had emptied out by the half. And the sad thing is the basketball season is looming and there is negligible anticipation there. I have resided in Columbia since 1992. I have never seen the program overall at such a low point. This week Kentucky is coming to town and somehow the Tiggers are favored by 4.5 points. If Mizzou is going to pull this off the defense will have to pull their heads out of their collective asses. Does not help that two of the better players on that side of the ball, Michael Scherer and Terry Beckner Jr are both out for the season with injuries. Both have torn ACL's. On the flip side Kentucky is in rare air holding down second place in the east. This would still be a quality road win for the Wildcats. They should be able to score in this game. The stubborn fact is the Tigers have allowed a sick 133 points in the last three games. Those are Big 12 defensive numbers. Let's not try and bull shit anyone here. This game is no marquee match up but Kentucky with a victory in Columbia could be closing in on a bowl. That would be a shot in the arm for Stoops and his program. Serious recruits want to know bowling is likely in the cards. Right now I would love nothing more to say you will see a pissed off Missouri team hit the field saturday and that Kentucky is walking into a buzz saw. But I have never lied on this forum in ten years and I will not start now. Mizzou has showed nothing whatsoever to earn any kind of trust with real money. Nothing.
Now, on the other end of the spectrum we have a pretty good game getting overshadowed on the national scale this weekend going on between Georgia and the Gators. Frankly I expected better than I have seen out of the Bulldogs this season. The offense seems kind of disjointed to me. But, I suppose that could be said for either side here. This will be the polar opposite of those pinball machine Big 12 games. This will be a hard hitting slugfest with snot bubbles flowing all around. Actually the kind of game I prefer. I was listening to sirius radio yesterday and couple of guys were talking about how they enjoy the really high scoring games. I about pulled over and puked. Different strokes for different folks they say. It's a rivalry game and being played in Jacksonville and believe it or not I lean to the Bulldogs here to cover the number. I am seeing seven and the dreaded hook.
What the hell has gotten into Auburn. They might be playing as well as any team in the nation now. Gus is now far removed from the hot seat. Isn't it amazing how some wins cure so many ills. They beat the hell out of a very good Arkansas team last week. I cannot wait for this year's Iron Bowl. It could be epic. But this week they have to avoid getting tripped up in Oxford against what will be a very cranky Rebel club. Everybody I know is more than willing to lay the points here, currently 4.5 with the Tigers. I have yet to talk with anyone liking Ole Miss here. The bookie in me has flashbacks when this happens. I took thousands of calls through the years from squares jerking off over games like this. I also put four daughters though great colleges thanks to those cube heads. I will come out and say it. I like the Reb's here at home as a live dog. No, it is not a client release. Not yet. Points might get even better. This one smells like a rotting carp guys. JMO.
Tennessee is laying just short of two touchdowns at the other Columbia against the Game Cocks. I would be interested in my friend Dave Esslers view here but I would lean to the points here and the Cocks at home. Tennessee strikes me as a team that drives coaches nuts in that they tend to play to the level of their competition. Should the Vols clear this number? Oh hell yes. But I am just not sold. They are off a bye week so should be fresh and ready to rumble. I hear the fans in South Carolina are pretty jacked over young QB Jake Bentley who will be drawing his second start under center. I know he was impressive last week against U-Mass but it's an entirely different beast he will be contending with saturday. My clients know I have this thing about laying points in general and that affliction is compounded when it is road favorites in league play.
I faded Kevin Sumlin's Texas A&M Aggies last week as they had to wrestle with frankenstein. They competed their asses off but in the end were simply beaten by the better team by 19 points. Thank goodness because I was laying 18. Sometimes good teams play well and hard, they do all they can and give everything they have to give. The other team is just that much better. That was clearly the case here. The Aggies are a very, very good football team. They got beat by a great team. No shame in that. This week they get to take out some frustration against New Mexico State. They are laying a monster number and will likely clear it. Not much else to add on that one.
That will do it for now. There will be some VERY good games coming down the pike in SEC football. VERY good games between some LEGITIMATE heavyweights.
Now, on the business end I have been on a nice run with my football featured releases. Actually I have now cashed on 11 of the last 12. I have had a ton of loyal clients buying daily picks and decided to try to do something this weekend to help ease the burden. I have three Triples in play starting friday night. Purchased individually the weekend would cost $75. I have a combo package that includes all three for one reasonable price of only $40. I don't publish or promote locks so as always there are no guarantees but I have been running hot and can add with all honesty I love all three of these games. A lot. The sunday NFL Triple is another NFL Rabid Dog. The triples in the NFL this season are 8-2. So, anyway, the combo package is loaded and ready and is does offer some legit savings.
Okay, back to work. Best of luck this weekend guys. Enjoy the games.
