We have been having a great discussion about the SEC, (the clear cut best CFB conference). We all know the SEC has won 7 of the last 9 National Championships, but was this partly a result of favorable treatment in the Polls? Is this conference over-rated.
I continue to say that SEC is UNDER-RATED by the bettors who simply don't realize that the SEC is light year's above the other conferences, provided they are equally motivated.
What bettor game to measure the SEC, than the National Title Game, where BOTH teams are equally motivated and ALLIN? Looking at this game (short sample) it is clear the bettors are massively under valuing the SEC....
2006, Fla +7.5 vs. Ohio State, WIN 41-14, COVER by 34.5
2007, LSU -3.5 vs. Ohio State, WIN 38-24, COVER by 10.5
2008 Fla -5 vs. Oklahoma, WIN 24-14, COVER by 5
2009 ALA -4 vs. Tex WIN 37-21, COVER by 12
2010 AUB pk vs. Oregon, WIN 22-19. COVER by 3 (game ended with Aub deep in Oregon red Zone, bettors bombed in Oregon +3, +2,+1)
2011 ALL SEC FINAL ALA beats LSU
2012 ALA -9.5 vs. nd, ALA 42-14, COVER by 18.5, (bettors BOMBED in ND bets)
2013 Aub +11.5 vs. FSU, FSU 34-31, COVER by 8.5
2014 NO SEC TEAM IN FINAL
There is no question the SEC was 'down' in 2014, but I think the data is pretty damn clear here. The country refuses to accept that the best team in the SEC is typically WAY better than any other team.
I look forward to betting the SEC in the 2015 Title Game! After a down year in 2014, I expect the SEC will go right back to winning National Titles the next 7 years.
