Hey razor do you have an opinion on that Stanford game
not in my wheelhouse, however, some brief thoughts:
First thing I noticed was a total set at 45 for this dude, which is certainly not commensurate to a 12.5 road chalk line in a cfb game. Stanford has stumbled on the offense side LY, but looks to improve; and defensively the cards look to have a top 10 defense again. The playbook will be dumbed down.
NW looks to start a rookie QB in Thorson but he comes well equipped and billed as a duel threat. They do return some playmakers that could make a difference ATS. Defensively they are likely to have problems, as they may get manhandled in this spot in the trench. Talent at wideout may give 'cats open field, which is a must to spread out Stanford defense.
Cardinals are a brand name and a clear favorite, would be shocked to see them upset; however, they are no offensive juggernaut and may lack the capacity to get separation. NW can be pesky and thorn in side; playing spoiler ATS and a live backdoor in action here, imo.
Chalk Talk: This is a pretty large spread for Stanford to lay on the road in an opener that may be choppy. NW has a duel threat QB and talent in the slots. If the 'cats can get in open field, they may give surprise. Up the gut against cards is not happening, so lots of weight on newbie qb thorson for cats to create. Stanford may be methodical in road opener bull dozing the lanes between tackles and taking what the nw defense gives.
Not really equipped to cap this game, but looks like the spread should be 10 pts in favor of cards. But cards could also kill 'em here as well. If they let NW hang around as long as they will let me, let me, ........ might conclude in a 27-17F type affair.
