Today at 1:30 pm Pacific time the Golden Nugget will release 166 college football games of the year.
Tim Miller joins the show (for part of this segment) from the Golden Nugget to talk about this. Tim states that at about 12 pacific time they will put the games on the board and people can bet on them at 1:30. 2 Windows will be open at that time and you are allowed to make 5 plays at that point. If you want to make more then you have to go to the back of the line.
One game to start with is Michigan vs Utah and the Utes have been installed as 4 point favorites in that game. Scott want's to know how much Harbaugh is worth at this point over Brady Hoke. Tim states that he's probably worth 5 to 6 points. He will have his team ready to go from the get go.
Andy was looking at Georgia at Auburn a little later in the year and the game has been set at a PK. Should Auburn have been a slight favorite in that game? Tim states that two of the guys in the meeting were down on Auburn, while he was up on Auburn, so they decided to make it a pick'em.
How quickly do lines get moved once the best start coming in? Tim states that they move pretty quickly and move the lower spread games about a point and the higher spread games about 2 points.
Who are the highest rated teams for the Golden Nugget. Aaron has Ohio State up there, while Tim feels that TCU is also highly rated and will battle all year with Ohio State for the top spot in the polls.
What strategies should be used for betting these games? Andy feels that there may be some value in looking at the November games and Scott agrees. A lot of folks that go down there will jump into that first weekend of games before doing anything else. The sharper guys will hit the late games.
What percentage of the wiseguys may be playing some games looking to maybe middle them later in the year. Scott isn't sure the %, but he limits are pretty low so they may not move the lines so much that there is a middling opportunity.
The Public will probably look at more favorites, while the Sharp will be looking for value on underdogs.
UNLV is a 33 point dog to Michigan and the Rebels may be a team that shows improvement as the season goes on, which may translate into more pointspread covers.
