The baseball post season is now underway and residing in mid missouri there is a lot to be excited about. For the first time the Royals are in the playoffs and won last night in impressive fashion getting up off the deck being down 7-3 in the 8th inning and pulling out a dramatic extra innings win. Around these parts the majority are Cardinals fans and frankly used to being in the playoffs on a very consistent basis. However this is rare air for the Royals backers and I am sincerely happy for them.
Today's moments in sports both have to do with baseball. It was on this date back in 1933 that Babe Ruth made his final appearance in the bigs pitching. How did the big guy fare? The fact is Ruth fired nine full innings and naturally blasted a shot in the fifth frame. Not bad. The other moment is tied into Ruth as it was also on this date back in 1961 that the Yankees Roger Maris smacked home run number 61 to top Babe's single season record of 60. Truely a clutch shot by Maris as it was done on the last game of the regular season. We all know the juiced up guys like Bonds, McGwire and Sosa came along and frankly I couldn't care less about their numbers. Bullshit numbers and we all know it. If you have not seen the Billy Crystal movie 61 yet then I strongly suggest you check it out. Stellar movie.
Now, a free college play. Suggesting a small wager on the Wildcats plus the points in Kentucky as the South Carolina Gamecocks come limping into town off that melt down against Missouri. A game I will once again proclaim I WAS WRONG ON! Big effort from Mizzou and there were many surprised people around that program. But, a big win for the Tigers who have an extra week off now and time to prepare for the invasion of the Georgia Bulldogs in what shapes up as a helluva battle in Columbia.
On a personal note. I got several pm's from guys asking about the wedding of my daughter last weekend in Palm Springs. It was an amazing event. The ceremony was held at the Palm Springs Art Museum saturday evening. The rehearsal party and dinner was at the Frank Sinatra estate. The place was rented for the entire weekend so the kids spent the night there friday through sunday night. The place was fun to walk around and explore. The original stereo equipment in the living room was interesting. Also the grand piano was in there and his original pianist was there and playing for the guests. He was a nice old guy who was sharing some fun stories. There was a great piano shaped pool and it was fun watching my two grandsons splashing around in it. It was obviously a weekend I will never forget. It was actually the first time I'd been to Palm Springs. Nice place.
Now, onto the business side. Once again, just so nobody can possibly miss it. I don't dodge losses. I BLEW MY GAME OF THE YEAR ON SOUTH CAROLINA! I never, ever dodge any loss. Okay, now let's look at the hard numbers in football at this stage of the season. No spin, just the cold hard numbers. In college football the mark is 26-14, 65% winners on all releases. The Triple Stars in college play stand at 4-1, yes, that South Carolina game was the first one to go south on us. We are up 15.3 units profit in college play. In the NFL the record going into this week stands at 14-12. 53%. The Triple Stars are at 3-2. We are currently up 3.6 units. So the bottom line is in football my clients and I are up 18.6 units. The Triples in both are hitting at a 70% clip.
I do have my College Triple Star featured release up and loaded for this week. Hopefully I will have my NFL Triple loaded and ready by tomorrow. Many thanks to those along this season for football long term. We're off to a good start and I usually finish very strong. Back to work.
