Monday July 14 and it's time for the 2014 Home Run Derby. The Event will take place at Target Field in Minnesota, with a start time of 8:00 PM (Eastern). ESPN will cover the event. Each team's participants are listed below along with their odds to win the Home Run Derby.
Odds To Win The 2014 Homer Run Derby--- Giancarlo Stanton (+250), Yasiel Puig (+450), Jose Bautista (+500), Yeonis Cespedes (+500), Troy Tulowitzki (+650), Josh Donaldson (+1000), Adam Jones (+1200), Brian Dozier (+1200), Todd Frazier (+1200) and Justin Morneau (+1500)
The American League captain is Jose Bautista (Toronto), who's best finish was 2nd place back in 2012. This will be his 3rd Home Run Derby. Jose has 228 career homers, including 17 this year so far.
Yeonis Cespedes (Oakland) was in his very first Home Run Derby last year and he won it making him the defending champion. Cespedes has 14 Homers this year, but make no mistake he has some power. He has 63 career homes in his brief Major League career so far.
Adam Jones from Baltimore is next. Adam has been consistent in the homer run department, hitting 25, 32, 33 the last 3 years and he has 16 this year so far.
Brian Dozier, from Minnesota, will also be participating in his first home run derby. he has only been in the leag for about 2 full years. last year he hit 18 round trippers, but so far this year he has 16 already. He is deserving of being her.
Josh Donaldson (Oakland) rounds out the American League team and is yet another participant that will be making his first ever appearance in the Home Run Derby. Last year he hit 24 homers, playing a full season, and is set to smash that mark this year as he already has 20.
Troy Tulowitzki (Colorado) is the captain of the National League. This will be Troy's first ever Home Run Derby. Troy leads the National League in Homers this year with 21, but lets also note that 14 have come at Coors Field. In his career he has hit 99 homers at Coors and 77 outside of it.
Yasiel Puig, from the Dodgers, will be making his first appearance in the Home Run Derby. Puig burst onto the scene with the Dodgers last year and has been very fun to watch so far. Last year he hit 19 homers and has 12 thus far in 2014.
Giancarlo Stanton (Miami) is yet another first timer in the event. It's a shame cause this guy has some pop in his bat. He has hit at least 22 homers in each of his first 4 years, while having a high of 37 2 years ago. This year so far he is at 21.
Next for the National League will be Cincinnati's Todd Frazier, who is also here for the first time. Todd has hit 19 homers in each of his last 2 years, but so far this year he is at 18, which means he is one pace for 30+.
Justin Morneau rounds out the National League team. This will be Justin's 3rd home Run Derby, but his first since 2008, when he won it. Justin has hit 234 career homers, including 13 this year so far. 8 of his homers have come at Coors this year, while 5 have come on the road.
PREDICTION: I Am a fan of Puig's and would love to see him win it, but I don't think he will. I think that Cespedes has a good shot at repeating, but I will go with Giancarlo Stanton. He plays for Miami so he deserves something good, right. LOL I do think it is his time to shine and show the rest of the nation what he can do. Playing in Miami he doesn't get much National Pub. I would also watch out for both Brian Dozier and Josh Donaldson. I think both are sleepers and will put on a good show.

Nice job Jeff. I like Joey Bats and Frazier.

Agree with the selection Jeff, Stanton is the most powerful hitter in the contest and at just 24 years old I think he will be excited for this opportunity and is less likely to be tired in the later rounds. BOL
