If not for an epic collapse by the Bulls yesterday we could have been looking at a 5-0 day. But when Hinrich is your best offensive option than that is to be expected. We hit both 2 stars yesterday with Tanaka handling the Red Sox and Fernandez single handily led the Marlins past the Braves. Rockies scared us and we needed a two out double in the 9th by Wilson and the Rangers to give us the over that was one run away in the 4th. 4-1 and had a +3.95 unit day. That's in the past so let's look at today.
3 Star:
Cardinals -145 = The price is a little steep but I don't see how the Cardinals don't win this one. Mets haven't seen Wacha much, and the guys who have are a combined 2-12. Cardinals have seen Niese and have hit him well. Lot of wind at Citi today so with the low total (6.5 right now) I like the better pitcher to get things done.
2 Star:
Yankees +101 = Put the beat down on the Sox last night so the emotion is there for the Yanks (as well as for the Red Sox though). Pineda has been a stud this year and has fared well against the Sox. Lackey on the other hand has been rocked by the Yankees bats and is overpriced here. Take the young kid in Pineda to keep the Yanks roll alive.
Cincinnati F5 +101 = Simon is a relief pitcher by trade but has looked good in his starting role this year. I like the game too but with Simon pitching over 100 pitches last game I'll take the F5 here before he tires. Both these pitchers have been hit by these lineups so an over could be in store as well.
1 Star:
White Sox +1.5 (-125) = Detroit got more than they bargained for last night and the late offensive output by the White Sox almost got the upset. No way Smyly should be that big a favorite and with the White Sox bats the +1.5 looks good here at this price. White Sox have seen Smyly before and hit him well.
Marlins +127 = Early start time today after a game that saw the Braves bats go cold. Harang has been solid this year but the Marlins have owned him. No Gattis for the Braves is nice as well. Eovaldi has been decent and the Braves haven't done much against him. Marlins finally got the road monkey off their back and I like them to take care of business again today.
