I'll be extremely busy this week with the financial markets - but have the time to look over a few things today

Pittsburgh Pirates

• The Pirates snapped their three-game winning streak with a 4-3 last at bat win over the White Sox yesterday afternoon.  They have won six of their last nine games and have gone 8-5 in their last 13 after losing eight straight.
• Pittsburgh has gone 4-3 on this 10-game road trip after winning three of four in Washington and losing two of three to the White Sox on the south side of Chicago.
• Team has gone a combined 12-7 against the NL East and NL West divisions.  They have posted a 7-15 record against their Central Division rivals.
• One of only four Major League teams that have used just five starting pitchers this season (Brewers, Giants and Rays).

St. Louis Cardinals

• The Cardinals have scored in the opening inning in 18 of their first 44 games and are sporting a 15-3 won-loss record in the games in which they do so.
• St. Louis has employed the services of 11 rookies this season, the most in the Majors.   Five rookies are currently with the club and five of the 11 made their Major League debuts this season.
• Thanks to their stellar pitching over the past week, the Cardinals have lowered their team ERA to 3.76 - 2nd best in the NL behind the Dodgers (3.74).  Over the last six games, St. Louis pitchers have walked just five batters.
