WhiteSox/Twins
I am tired of betting on the White Sox, but it is what it is.
Jose Quintana takes the mound tonight for the White Sox and he has been incredible for Chicago so far this season. He comes into the game with a 4-1 record and an era of 2.58 in 11 starts (13 games total).
Cole De Vries takes the mound for the Twins. The kid has been great so far posting a 3.64era in 47 innings (8 starts). De Vries is a right handed pitcher, but he struggles against right handed hitting:
Batters facing De Vries
Left: .165/.250/.354 .604 OPSRight: .294/.314/.549 .863 OPS
The White Sox will have 6 bats coming from the right side.
He doesn't exactly have the biggest sample size, but its disturbing. I checked his AAA numbers from this year and while the difference is not as sizable, he was still worse against RHB:
Left: .259 avgRight: .289 avg
He was 3-5 with an era of 4.37 (70 innings) in AAA, so his performance doesn't exactly add up in the majors.
One of the main reasons i like this game is the back to back starts against the same team. Six days ago, the White Sox were held in check by De Vries (6 inn, 7hits, 2r, 1er, 4so/0bb). He will still be fresh in Chicago's mind. I believe they will make adjustments (while De Vries does nothing different) and take it to him this time around.
Six days ago, the Twins were able to get to Quintana (6 1/3 inn, 8hits, 4r, 4er, 1so/1bb). The theory is the same. He will make adjustments and have a good start tonight.
Quintana has had two other bad start this year (giving up 4 runs or more). He was marvelous in the two starts following
Bad start (vs. NYY): 6inn, 8h, 6r, 6er, 5so/3bbNext start (vs. TEX): 8inn, 2h, 1r, 1er, 8so/1bb
Bad start (vs KC): 5inn, 8h, 5r, 5er, 4so/3bbNext start (vs BOS): 8inn, 5h, 0r, 0er, 2so/0bb
Bullpens are pretty comparable on the season but, the White Sox pen is rolling right now.
White Sox bullpen has an era of 2.74 last 10 gamesTwins bullpen has an era of 5.81 last 10 games
Better team, better pitcher, better bullpen
