Like this play a lot on Friday because of both pitchers recent success over their last three starts and because of the lack of success against leftys from the Phillies offense. Buehrle is coming into this one with a 3.15 era on the road, when we look at his numbers, the one that stands out to us is his walk number on the road. That number is 6 compared to 18 strikeouts. Thats a key number against a below average offense of the Phillies who have enough trouble scoring. Take it a step further and they are averaging only 2.9 runs per game against leftys with a .242 average and only 11 homeruns on the year. Buehrles last start against the Phillies came back on April 12 where he went 6 innings only allowing 3 runs and lost the game 3-1. Meanwhile, Kendrick is pitching lights out right now, coming off of a shutout in St Louis where he didnt allow a walk. His last three starts he is carrying a 1.23 era with 12 strikeouts and 2 walks. He has been stellar as of late against the Marlins as well where he has gone at least 5 innings in each of his last three starts against them allowing 1 run a piece in those starts. Love to back an Under with two pitchers that rarely give up the free bases. A nice trend to look at with the Marlins is that they are 1-5 in favor of the Under on the road with a ML of -100 to -125 as well as 8-17 overall in favor of the Under on the road, back that with the Phillies lack of success against Leftys and you have yourself an Under game here. Play on the U of 8.5.
