Ugly day yesterday, going just 1-4, losing 3.12 units on the day. Back at it with 4 plays today:
Nationals RL +140 This is a case where I would like to think that digging a little deeper yields an obvious result. I want to look closer at the Mariners starter, the left-handed Ariel Miranda. Overall, he is 3-2 with a 4.28, 1.26 WHIP, has 47 K's in 48.3 innings, and the league is hitting .243. Practically the definition of average, although he appears to be an above average strikeout pitcher. However, in 5 road starts, he is 1-1 with a 6.65 ERA, a 1.57 WHIP, the league hits .271 against him, and he has allowed 11 walks in 21.2 innings. There is a noticeable drop-off in his results on the road. Put that up against the highest scoring team in baseball, a team that hits .303 against lefties and .303 at home, back him up with a questionable bullpen and oppose him with a solid starter this season, and I believe the Nationals should win this one big. And to get all this at +140. Strikes me as a line with a lot of value to it.
