3* Cardinals (Garcia) -135
Joe Ross is back in the rotation today for the Nationals. He has been pretty good this year holding a very low ERA of 0.54. However, his two starts have been against Miami and Philadelphia. Now there isn't a huge sample size on his performance against the Cardinals, but what is there is not good. He has a 10.13 ERA against St. Louis which is worse than any other team he has faced. Now since there isn't a huge sample size I look at other factors. These St. Louis bats have been hot this whole year and they've been great at home. I like St. Louis a lot in this spot
2* Diamondbacks/Rockies over 8.5
Greinke has not been good this year and as I have written about pre-season, this was expected. He moved to a hitters park at 32 years old coming off the season in which he had the most IP. Christopher Rusin is making his first start of the season and I'm interested to see how long he lasts. I don't expect it to be a huge outing. One other factor I'm looking at is umpire data. Toby Basner's crew is taking control of this game and they're 2-0 to the over thus far and second in home run rate with 3 per game. This tells me he has a tight strike zone. Pitchers know they aren't going to be able to paint corners so where do they have to pitch to get strikes? Right down the middle. OVER we go tonight!
