#1: Washington Nationals -107
On the season Joe Ross is my 21st ranked starter with a projected ERA of 3.2. He is surrounded by guys like Lester, Liriano, Price, and Carlos Martinez, all much bigger names than him of course. But it’s due to the lack of ‘name recognition’, as well as the fact that he’s facing the Cardinals, why the odds on him are so affordable today. He’s going up against Marco Gonzalez, a rookie who has a 5.2 ERA and 5.1 FIP in the minors this year. In his 6 August start in the minors he’s went 30.1 innings, allowed 37 hits and walked 13. That’s a WHIP of almost 1.7, and that’s in the minor leagues. Going up against a Nats lineup that ranks 8th in the last 30-days will be much more difficult. Neither pitcher has faced off against the respective lineups before, but I have to give Ross a huge advantage in this one. I like Washington’s chances tonight.
Good Luck
