The MLB trade deadline is today and we have already seen some big trades this past week. Hamels has gone to the Rangers... The Blue Jays have picked up Tulo and Price... The Cubs just traded for Dan Haren today... The Royals got Cueto and the Dodgers got Latos and Wood.
The Astros got Mike Fiers, Carlos Gomez and Scott Kazmir. They are clearly showing that they are going for it this year. They will worry about 3 years down the road when that time comes. They have clearly had the better moves so far than the Angels had. Fiers is a versatile pitcher and could take over a starting spot should Feldman struggle again tonight.
THe Royals are 3-1 to win the AL and Scott doesn't feel that they are priced right. There is too many other good teams around the AL to make them that big a favorite. They are very god, but the Astros have gotten much better, the Angels are still hanging around and the Yanks are solid and Jays are players as well.
Houston is 16/1 and Scott feels that would be a great bet. They should have lower odds.
Is Latos the #3 gut for the Dodgers? He has pitched well of late, but Pauly isn't sure he is a great pickup. Both Scott and Pauly feel that the Dodgers should have tried to go and get Cueto, Price or Shields. The Dodgers still have a great chance to win the division, but they still need another starter and the moves they have made so far are not World Series worthy moves. The Giants got Leake, who may be the hottest pitcher in the game right now and that makes even more sense for LA to go out and make more moves.
The Padres are looking to blowup their whole staff, which really hasn't been done before at the trade deadline.
I little look back at yesterday now. Big money moves went just 2-5 last night. It has been very odd this year that big moves continue one way with little buyback. The syndicates are jumping in and the public is just following.
The Syndicates are going on sabermetrics, while the Public seems to be going with the popular sides and Pauly see s that continuing as we head into August.
Last night the Mets blew a huge lead and this could be something that we will see with the team is because of the Wilmer Flores situation that happened a couple of days ago. Flores is a popular player in the clubhouse and that could affect the psyche of the team.
