MLB Trade week is here and we have had a few trades already, with the big one being Troy Tulowitzki heading north of the border to Toronto. Still the Jays need to address their starting pitching woes. They are looking at Ian Kennedy from the the Padres. Andy feels they may not be done dealing yet though as they do need pitching.
Johnny Cueto is in Kansas City now and it strengthens that team, which is favored to win the world series. They didn't have a true #1 starters and now they do. Andy feels this will be a very tough team to beat in the playoffs and getting the experience last year it can really help them this time.
The Angels brought in Shane Victorino, which gives them a solid presence on the field and in the locker room.
Steve feels that Rockies may be a dead nut Under on the road, especially now that Tulo is gone.
Scott feels that he made made some nice moves in getting Uribe and Johnson for offense and Clippard to strengthen an already solid pen. They are looking to stay in the race, but Abdy feels that the only reason they are in the race in the east is because Washington has failed to put it all together. Still if they get one more bat then they can make a huge push towards the Nats.
Texas seems to be the likely spot for the Cole Hamels to end up. Philly wanted to make a deal with Houston, but Hamels doesn't want to go there.
How do you handicap during this week? Andy states that one of the things he does is to make sure that all his plays are with listed pitchers. You really don't want to a play on the Phils thinking Hamels was gonna start and then have Jerome Williams be the starter.
Also keep in mind teams that may be losing a key player from their lineup Like Tulo and now Carlos Gonzalez may be leaving as well. Stay away from those teams. You also may look to play overs in games as you get down to Thursday and Friday.
Steve feels that the Phils may be a team to go against down the stretch, especially once they start getting rid of players.
