CARDINALS + (Wacha/Ventura)
I'm recommending a play on the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. Michael Wacha is showing no signs of slowing down and looks to be "just what the doctor ordered" as the Cardinals attempt to avoid the weekend sweep at the hands of the KC Royals. Wacha has allowed more than two earned runs in just one of his eight starts this season and no team has managed more than six hits off the right-hander.
KC will counter with Yordano Ventura, who is off a nice start against the Reds, but life on the mound gets a little tougher against the Cardinal lineup. Ventura has been a bit shaky against southpaw hitters and Redbird 3B Matt Carpenter has owned this venue with sizzling hot numbers at the plate.
The Cards are on a 13-3 run when Wacha toes the rubber, including a 6-0 run when he starts on the road. I expect another decent outing from the Redbird righty and I'm recommending a play on the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
