It seems that the Oakland A's is the obvious play because they have been a better ball club than the Mariners all season. Not so fast. Sonny Gray is hurling for the A's tonight and he hasn't been so good of late. Yes, he has been effective against the Mariners lately but this means that the Mariners have seen him lately and may have built up a good read on him (maybe they have adjusted their lineup based on recent data???). Paxton is throwing for Seattle and at first glance he is just a mediocre pitcher. At second glance, we see that no A's have faced him before. What do handicappers say about a pitcher that who hasn't faced a team yet? The pitcher has the advantage. I think Seattle is worth looking at for a smaller play at +128 tonight as I see it as a game where Gray will not 'break out' of his slump and that Paxton will confuse the A's hitters.
