Friday Bases! / 9-2 Free Play Run
The Royals are the hottest team in baseball right now and they visit Arlington to face the Rangers for a mini 3 game series over the weekend starting on Friday.
Yordano Ventura gets the nod for the Royals who holds a 8-9 record in 23 starts this season which has seen the young hurler pitch to a 3.52 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 138 innings. In August, opposing hitters have just hit a mere .208 BA against Ventura and he has a 2.81 ERA over his last 4 trips to the mound. He has allowed 3 ER or fewer in 11 of his last 13 starts and although he can have issues with his command, he has pitched to a 1.24 WHIP in 18 games under the lights.
The Rangers hand the baseball to Colby Lewis who has been the worst ‘Home’ starting pitcher in all of baseball in 2014. Lewis is just 2-7 with a 7.29 ERA and a staggering 1.76 WHIP in 12 starts in Arlington. Lewis has pitched much better in his ‘Day’ starts, but unfortunately for him, Friday sees him start at 8.05PM EST. Opponents have hit a whooping .336 BA against him in 18 ‘Night’ match ups.
The Rangers come into tonights game with the worst home record of any team at 23-38 (.377) and they are just 3-10 following a day off. The Royals are 9-4 following a day off in 2014.
