2* St. Louis Cardinals -115
Yes we know Johnny Cueto (15-6 2.06ERA) is solid and one of the best pitchers in the NL. However I feel he has been pitching deep in many of his previous games. In his last 5 starts (All Wins) he has logged 39 IP which is just under 8 Innings a game. Remember how we all say go against a no hitter the next start out? Well of course many different reasons, but I believe some look at a no no to go against per the innings logged or pitches thrown. I feel we are in for a letdown spot with many to back Cueto today. In his last 2 games he has allowed 3 home runs and his last 3 games has thrown a average of 112 pitches a game. I went against him last week when he pitched at Coors field (106 pitches) coming back and winning in the 9th. And that was against the Rockies. So today he goes on the road again but into STL where he is 0-1 in his last 2 starts at STL and his team only provided him 1 run in support.
So we take are revenge from the loss at Coors with Lance Lynn today for the red birds. Now his pitch count is pretty close to Cuetos but with him being at home, I like the comfort spot here. He has thrown on average a 107 pitches a game in his last 3. He has given up 0 home runs in his last 6 and 1 in his past 10 games. He has been getting ahead of hitters to control the situations and his defense has been taking care of the rest. Lynn has won 3 in a row and 6 of his past 7 games. He has to feel great and primed to take on one of the best pitchers in the NL. He will want to show he can keep the pace and go the distance just as Cueto does. Since June 28th Lynn has posted a ERA of 1.97. He is 2-0 versus the Reds this season, however with a high ERA. Last season he was also 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA versus Cincy at home. So once again the comfort factor comes into play along with the motivation to take down the NL's leader in wins. But this could all be "Mumbo Jumbo" (TM)....It is betting, we work our craft and learn as we go. Dont tout your BS! Play who your picking and continue to stack the Benjys up!
