More often then not the "RARE" play will be chalk..No difference with this one tonight.
Atlanta braves P Ervin Santana has been getting the job done as of late. Atlanta has had a rough go the last 10 games or so. Santana has been the bright spot for these Braves in the month of July. The Braves are only a game or two back from the NL East leading Nationals. This home stand for them should have been more productive as they have only gotten themselves 5-5 the last 10 games. They must have had better hopes this might be the spot of the season they can gain ground or stretch a lead in the division. Facing some of the weaker teams in MLB they must feel like this one is a big game as well. The homestand ends with this game before they head on the road for the next 9-10 days way out west.
Santana has some average numbers here. 9-6 3.87 ERA 1.28 WHIP
Atlanta has opened up the offense the last 2 games scoring a total of 13 runs Vs. the Padres.
Starting pitcher for San Diego (Kennedy) was a scratch for this game and Lefty Jason Lane gets call up from the Padres. This is just a patch work assignment here. Kennedy may be back in action by the weekend.
***Jason Lane Lane, 37, tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings over two games with the Padres in June. He has a 4.67 ERA with Triple-A El Paso this season in 19 starts. Lane spent seven seasons in the Major Leagues as an outfielder with the Astros and Padres from 2002-07.*** Found this *** noted on Padres.com....Make me wonder a little about this guy.
The Braves just chewed up lefty Stults, and get another lefty with a 4.67 ERA in a bad spot for the Padres.
Lets not mess around with this one..Lets take the Braves with the hefty price and make it count.
