In "What We Learned" segment Andy & Scott Take a look at money line moves in MLB.
Big Chalk continues to take over the cards, but last night big chalk favorites got smacked, as they went just 2-5 on the night. Betting them straight would have cost you a pretty penny. A way to limit the exposure of loses is to Parlay the big favorites. If you were to parlay two -200 favorites then the payback would be like betting a +125 dog.
The other way to approach big favorites is to lay the run and a half. Now some people do not like the idea that you are betting against a 1 run game in that instant. 30% of the games do end in 1 run games and about half of those it is the dog that wins the game outright. The only time you really benefit from taking 1.5 runs is if the dog loses by 1 run.
Some money line moves on the favorites had been like 50/60 cents and they were having great success, but lately it has been the opposite and Andy feels that the big syndicates have been creating false moves of late getting the money to move on the favorite and then coming back and taking the dog at a better price.
The Reds and Rockies may be the exception to this as Money has been moving against both teams and yet they keep losing. Yesterday the line opened up on Washington at -150 and was steam up to -190, while the royals opened up at -108 and closed around -150.
Today money did come in on Colorado so far. The Rockies are 43-8 in De La Rosa's last 51 home starts.
