How are the Hogs gonna be this year? I am not optimistic about them.
Does not look good, but should be more competitive than last year - although it won't translate to wins. Tough game out of the gate @ Auburn (-24) will be a real test for game management and measuring stick. Brandon Allen will take the snaps and has shown improvement - but hard not to considering LY's dismal performance.
Strength and conditioning reports have been very good, esp on the offensive line. Looks like Bulemia and staff are going to try and establish the power run (ala whiskey). With Allen's indecisiveness, hogs will need a strong run game; I think we will see much improvement in the area in coach B's second year.
The defensive line is mediocre, but does have two good TE's; but likely to struggle against top tier SEC offenses. The secondary is an ongoing saga and very suspect.
Very thin depth at almost all positions and the talent level falls off quickly. Injuries will decimate the hogs. Recruiting was poor considering the conference and level of football played. Mostly 2-3 star recruits, whereas, Auburn, Bama, Flo have locked in another steady class of 4-5 star recruits.
This will be a very telling year for Bulemia and staff. The faithful have seen run up the middle 3x under Nutt, Holtz, Hatfield, Ford, etc.... and "we" are not quite sure that this so-called big 10 power run system is an ideal format for competing in the sec. We shall see. Reports are coming in daily and should have quite a bit of information before the first game.
