Good morning Pregame! Off a very good night, but time to get back to the grind today. At first glance, this is a tricky looking card, might want to be cautious today. However, these things tend to open up after some deeper, more thoughtful analysis. My plays so far:
St Louis ML (-125) at New York Mets Lance Lynn has been outstanding this season and the Mets are throwing a right handed pitcher. At least this gives the Cards a chance. I'm beginning to wonder why anyone would ever throw a right handed pitcher against St Louis?
New York Yankees/Boston Over 8.5 CC's line the last 3 years against the Red Sox: 4-6, 6.48 ERA, 1.68 WHIP, .316 BAA. Yep, I'm looking for the Boston bats to tee off today. Doubront has had his struggles against the Yanks, but still better overall numbers. But 29 BB's in 48 innings vs. the Bombers the last 3 years? That's a recipe for runs right there. On the side, I would favor the Red Sox and may actually play them at -119. But I am seeing a 7-6 type of game today, making the Over an easy play here.
Cincinnati ML (-115) at Pittsburgh Hard to believe that Pittsburgh has never really seen Cingrani in his career. His line against the Bucs: 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, .125 BAA. However, that's against 9 batters in 2.1 innings total. It's almost like seeing him for the first time. I like the Reds here, and we may get a low scoring game, and the Under 7 is definitely in play.
Minnesota at Tampa Bay I keep looking at this game, thinking there is a play here. Last 3 years, Nolasco is 0-3 against the Rays with a 5.60 ERA. Side bet favors the Rays, but at -143, the price is getting into steep territory, and I'm contemplating the RL instead at +140. Bedard has put up good numbers against the Twins, but we know this Twins team can score runs, and I'm thinking the Rays are going to score a few here too. Leaning Rays, Over 8.5 with this game. Need to think this through more thoroughly, and I'll likely have a play here later in the day.
