The Giants lost a 2-1 decision last night, a game in which I was on the Giants and lost out on. I certainly believe that San Francisco is the better team here and will bounce back and get back in the W column tonight. Tim Hudson will be toeing the rubber for the Giants and has had a great start to his 2014 campaign, going 2-0 with a 2.35 ERA. The veteran has been pitching very well this season but just gave up 4ER in 7 1/3 innings in a no decision against the Rockies in his last outing. Tim Hudson has dominated the Padres throughout his career, going 6-1 in 12 starts with a 2.84 ERA.
San Diego gives the ball to lefty Eric Stults who has had a very shaky start to the season, he has posted a 0-2 record with a 5.52 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP. Stults has struggled with his location thus far and has not been able to strike many batters out. Collectively, the Giants hold a .301 batting average against Stults.
The Giants gave both Michael Morse and Buster Posey a day off yesterday, their return to the lineup tonight should give them a boost to make work Stults to a high pitch count early on in the ballgame.
