Why we like the Marlins on Wednesday at +150...lets put this pitching matchup aside for a second and talk about these two teams over the last week or so. This Marlins team may have found something and with it being to late in the season to really put it to good use, they are playing for their future jobs and it is showing right now. This is a Marlins team that has won their last 4 of 5 games while averaging 6.3 rpg and allowing just 4.0 rpg over their last 7 games. The Diamondbacks have lost their past two games and have averaged 5.0 rpg while allowing 4.3 rpg over their last 7 games. The Marlins own the season record in Arizona where they are 2-0. Onto the pitching matchup...This is the highly anticipated debut for Jacob Turner being that its is Marlins team debut and Tyler Skaggs being that it is his Major League debut. Lets start with Turner, he has been under these lights before with the Tigers and has already gotten his feet wet. Turners last three starts down in Triple-A resulted in a combined 16 innings where he allowed just 1 run on 16 Ks. More importantly is that Turner is on his normal rest and routine. For Skaggs today will be a little different. First off, he did not know he would be making this start until he got the call yesterday. Second, he is coming off of a start in Triple-A where he allowed 10 hits on 8 runs through 5 innings and lastly, he is being thrown into a division race. Skaggs is not on normal rest for this start as his most recent outing came on August 14th. Being a lefty that he is may play even better for the Marlins as they are 22-20 against LHP and average 3.9 rpg with 46 HRs. The Marlins also have the overall bullpen advantage in this one with their 3.35 road era compared to the DBacks 4.02 home era. We will play on the Marlins at +150.
