After a solid start I had a rough last 2 days. Lets get it back today.
TOP PLAYS
4 UNIT PLAY
NY Yanks/ Tampa Bay Over 8: Both offenses are clicking row now as the Yanks have put up 12 runs in the first 2 games, while the Rays have score 15 runs in their first 2 games. Phil Hughes had a down year as he posted a 5.90 ERA in his 14 starts last year, but thanks to some great run support he had a 5-5 record on the year. The Yanks offense did not trust this guy when he was on the mound as they averaged 8 rpg in his 14 starts overall, including 9 rpg in his last 10 starts. Jeremy Hellickson pitched well at home last year, with a 2.54 ERA, but he is going up against a hot Yanks offense that just scores a ton for Phil. The Rays have started hot offensively as they scored 15 run in thier 1st two games and they did a lot of damage late as the Yanks pen has a 7.71 ERA through the first 2 games. The Yanks also got good results vs the Tampa pen, as the Rays pen has a 5.40 ERA through two games. Both offenses are playing very well and their is average pitching on the mound, plus with both pens struggling this one should easily fly over the total.
3 UNIT PLAYS
Philadelphia -127 over PITTSBURGH: Vance Worley had a fine year last year for the Phils, going 11-3 and posting a 3.01 ERA. The Phils offense is not clicking right now, thanks to some injuries, but they did average 5.8 rpg in Vance's last 10 starts last year, plus they will be taking on James McDonald, who is 0-2 with an 8.00 ERA in 2 starts vs the Phils last year. James was 9-9 with a 4.21 ERA in 2011, while down the stretch he struggled with a 1-3 mark and a 4.26 ERA. Just like the Phils, the Pirates have struggled out the gate offensively as they have scored just 2 runs and hit just .129 through the first 2 games. The Phils aren't much better at .214 in their first two games, but come on .129. Bothn teams should see their offenses break out a bit in this one, but the Phils still have a bit better offense and the better starter on the mound, plus their bullpen is top notch as well. Too much for the Pirates to overcome here as the Phils get back on the winning track.
Colorado -130 over HOUSTON: I had the Rockies last night as I felt they had the better pitching and much better offense, but I was wrong. I don't feel Ill be wrong in this one though. The Rockies really do have the better offense in this series and they should have a good showing vs Houston's Bud Norris today. Norris had a solid 3.77 ERA last year, but had just a 6-11 record, thanks to poor run support. He did struggle in his lone start vs Colorado last year, as he allowed 4 ER on 6 hits and 4 walks in just 5 innings of work. Juan Nicasio had a mediocre 4-4 record last year with a 4.14 ERA, but he did pitch better down the stretch with a 3.32 ERA in his last 7 starts, despite posting a 2-3 mark in those starts. Houston had a good showing offensively last night, but this still not a good offense and they just won't come up with enough runs in this one to get the win here.
LA Angels/ Kansas City Over 8: Jonathan Sanchez struggled at the end of last year as he had a 5.91 ERA in his last 7 starts of the year and that was as a NL pitcher. Now he takes his act to the AL and will be facing an Angels offnes that is looking to break out this year. In his career Jonathan has struggled on the road, with a 4.31 ERA and he has one start vs the Halos and he allowed 6 ER on 10 hits in just 3.2 innings of work in that start. Ervin Santana had a good year with a 3.38 ERA last year, but he did struggle down the stretch with a 4.44 EA in his last 7 starts, while in his career vs the Royals he has a 4.80 ERA in 13 starts and a 5.24 ERA in his last 5 starts vs them. The Royals are an improved team, with an improved offense and they did show it yesterday by putting up 5 ER on 11 hits vs a tough pitcher in Dan Haren. The Royals will be a good offense this year and should get some runs off of Santana today, while I expect the Halos offense to put up plenty of runs of their own.
Chicago/ Texas Over 9:(Google News Play) Still waiting for this Texas lineup to explode as they have put up just 3 runs in each of their first two games.Maybe a game on national TV vs Gavin Floyd is what they need to break out. Gavin has a 4.73 Career ERA vs the Rangers and a 437 ERA at Rangers Ballpark, plus for some reason he does not pitch well at night with a 4.85 career ERA under the lights, compared to a 3.70 ERA in day games. Matt Harrison had a fine year last year with a 3.39 ERA, but he is a slow starter with a 5.42 ERA in March/ April and he has a career ERA of 4.73 at home. The Rangers offense should get on track tonight and put on a good show for the TV audience, while an underrated Chicago offense should get their share of runs vs Harrison, who struggles early in the year and at home.
OTHER PLAYS
2 UNIT PLAYS
Atlanta -108 over NY METS: The Braves are looking to avoid getting swept by a Mets club that just about everyone pegged for last in the NL East. The Atlanta Braves are struggling in the early going and just can’t seem to be able to get hits and score runs which isn’t a formula that is going to win too many games, but they should have some success today vs Jonathan Niese, who went just 2-4 with a 6.46 ERA in his last 7 starts last year. Mike Minor is one of the better young pitcher on the Braves staff and while he did post a 6.75 ERA in 4 starts vs the Braves last year, He was 2-0 in those starts, while the Braves won all 4 of those games. The Mets are still not a good team and Atlanta will avoid the sweep here.
LA Dodgers/ San Diego Over 7: (Added) Some pitchers park huh? This is the 4th game in the series and the OVER has gone 2-0-1 in the first 3 games. The Padres don't have a lot of pop in their lineup, but they have done well vs Harang as he owns a 5.82 ERA in his last 5 starts vs them Clayton Richards has done well vs the Dodgers, with a 2.33 ERA in his last 5 starts vs them, but the Dodgers offense is improved this year and Clayton does have a bad defensive team behind him. Both teams should get at least 4 runs each in this one.
1 UNIT PLAY
Boston/ Detroit Over 8.5: DETROIT is 53-23 OVER after a game where the bullpen gave up no runs over the last 2 seasons, while BOSTON is 23-12 OVER after scoring 2 runs or less over the last 2 seasons.

"That 2-hour call-in show off of blogtalkradio was one of the most ambitious things I've ever witnessed here. It was over the top amazing to listen to. Again, you two may have cracked "hockey talk sports radio" (and you're not regulated by the FCC, not obligated to talk about a certain topic, and can accidentally cuss and swear)."
