2015 MLB Playoffs.xlsx
Here's a quick one-pager (in Excel) for everyone if you want to quickly look at all 8 playoff teams.
I've sorted each team in each league by their BaseRuns Win% rank.
A few key abbreviations:
e-ERA - expected ERA based off my personal formula that utilizes advanced pitching stats
Var - comparing ERA vs e-ERA. If the number is negative, then ERA is lower than the expected number, possibly due to some batting-luck and strand-rate being higher than normal. Vice versa if positive
Weighted Ave - comparing each team's starting pitching but adding double the weight to the top-2 starters, since they're expected to pitch more or less twice as many times as the #3/#4 guys
I've included FULL-Year and 2nd Half ONLY numbers/rankings/etc. These could be usefull in some instances. For example, Mets' offense had a wRC+ of 99 ranked 9th for the full year. They were at 114 ranked 4th in the 2nd half only. Addition of Cespedes and return to health of Wright had something to do with it. So which Mets offense do you expect in the post-season?
If anyone else has any questions, please let me know.
Good luck in the playoffs everyone!
