Perhaps we've shaken off the All-Star break rust. Seem like we had very few losing weeks the first half, and one to start the second half. We're still ahead so much for the season - and just doing the work every day. We do this work in detail every day, including CFB/NFL and even CBB - and as you likely know the Early Bird Football Packages are up, and ours is here. And on Wednesday we're stepping our with out MLB Triple Dime Game of the Week.
I got back in time to make it official, now that I can cut and paste. We're late here, but OFW.
903 MIL (-105) Greek vs 904 SFG
Reds-Cards: Lackey threw 111 pitches last outing, perhaps not a lot for some pitchers, but a season-high for him. He's 36. The Cardinals have never seen Desclafani, who's been far better away from Great American, the small park.
Washington-Miami: Doug Fister is having by far his worst statistical season of his career, but it gets worse. On the road he's allowed 45 hits in 31 innings pitched with 6 home runs. Koehler has had his ups and downs - but at home he's got a 1.68 ERA, allowed opposing hitters only a .199 batting average against, and the going into Tuesday night the Miami pen hadn't allowed an earned run in a week.
I'll try to add more before tomorrow night and perhaps as I am on the road tomorrow - here's a few things that surprised me.
Home runs with men in scoring position:
Mets: 9
Yankees: 38
Toronto had one of the highest stolen base %'s in MLB. They just traded away about 30% of them and may rely even more on the three run home run.
Detroit has been caught stealing 34 times. Four teams don't have 34 steals.
The Rockies have 9 home runs this season against left handed pitching. Tulowitzki had three of them. They have 103 against right handed pitching.
The team with the best OPS on the road is - the SF Giants by a fairly wide margin. Toronto is 7th.
Toronto has scored the most runs on the road. Second most - the Texas Rangers.
The team with the best average with RISP: The Giants. Right behind them: They Royals Those things are going to matter come October - on a podcast with Dave Malinsky before the season started I talked about these two teams. Experience matters as far as the Giants go, and people were not paying attention to Kansas City. They lost two players from a Championship team. Shields, who they easily replaced with Volquez. And Billy Butler, who in that Championship year hit about .270 with nine home runs. Not hard to replace that - and the fact that he couldn't play the field and taking an extra base was out of the question. Some catchers run better.
