In today's Big Conversation, Andy and Scott take a look at the upcoming MLB playoffs.
The playoffs start tonight.
Odds to win the WS in the American league (Top 3) are the Tigers at 9/2, The Angels at 5/1, The Orioles at 7/1.
Andy states that the Baltimore Detroit series is an interesting one, especially with the fact that the tigers are favored in the series over an Orioles team that played very well down the stretch and had 6 more wins than the Tigers in the regular season. The Orioles are missing some hitters, but the Tigers still have questions in the Pen and on defense.
Andy says he may look to play on teams that have deep rotations and solid Bullpens. He also feels that the winner of the Royals/ A's game tonight could be a live dog vs the Angels.
Scott says that if Matt Shoemaker comes back to the rotation healthy then the Angels should make it to the World Series. Their chances really hinge on Shoemaker's return. Andy isn't so sure because teams that also rely on hitting just don't win in the post season and for the Angels they need that hitting because the starting rotation just isn't all that solid.
To the National League. Nationals and Dodgers are both at 9/2 odds to win the WS.
Andy feels that Washington is the most balanced team in the National League. He likes their Pen, their starting rotation and their lineup, even though it doesn't feature many big hitters. He likes Washington to advance in their first series vs either Pittsburgh Or San Francisco.
in the other series he is looking to be on St Louis in the opener as a big dog vs the Dodgers, especially with Wainright on the mound. Still overall the Dodgers should get past the Cardinals in that series. The Cardinals staff is not all that strong once they get past Wainright and that is when LA should take advantage.
