The guys in NY who made that call should have to go in front of a microphone and explain themselves and answer questions.
He did not intentionally block the plate. He moved to where the throw was. And the plate was not really blocked anyway. If the runner beats the throw, he gets to the plate easily. You see this all the time when the catcher is moved up the line on the throw and the runner dodges him to get to the plate. When it was still legal, blocking the plate was an art, and you literally could not get to the plate. In this play, the catcher has the ball and is just waiting to tag him. It was truly ridiculous.
