With the MLB Trade Deadline being on Thursday, Scott & Andy will take a look at the latest trade rumors in today Big Conversation.
Of course the biggest trade talk involves David Price from Tampa Bay. If the Rays don't trade Price then they may lose out on getting a whole lot in return, but at the same time by keeping hold of him will strengthen their chances for a possible playoff berth. Tough decision in Tampa Bay.
Andy feels that based on recent history of the Rays being a second half team that they should not trade David. They have been the best team in baseball over the last 45 games. David is in contract through next year, so they may wait until next year to trade him, but they really need help in the minor league system and trading him would help with that.
Scott feels that if you have the opportunity to go for a playoff berth now then take it. The Cards are rumored to be offering Oscar Taveras and Shelby Miller for Price, but just a rumor at this point.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are looking to go after Mariners INF DJ Peterson, but they also need to look for some pitching, with all their injuries they have plus the fact that they don't have a real stopper in their rotation. Lester to the Pirates?? Hmmmm
Talk about Jorge De La Rosa being traded, but Jorge really likes pitching in the high altitude and he has done very well at home, so for another team to trade for him might not make sense.
Phils may shop Burnett, but no Hamels and no takers on Cliff Lee yet.
Ryan Howard to St Louis might be a viable trade. That is his home town and the Cards are in need of another bat. Plaaying in his home town may be what he needs to get his offense going again.
Mets looking to acquire Tulowitzki, but Rockies said Tulo and Gonzalez are both off the trade board.
Dodgers are looking to ship Kemp.
Comments are welcomed as always.
