In today's Big Conversation RJ Bell and Dave Cokin discuss whether or not the Cleveland Cavaliers should trade Andrew Wiggins to Minnesota for Kevin Love.
RJ's asks dave how that trade would improve the Cavs this year and the impact of the trade 4 years down the line. First Dave states that as far as 4 years down the line he would rather have Wiggins, because he has a higher ceiling than Kevin Love.
Dave states that Kevin Love is clearly the better player right now, but still wouldn't make the trade. Even with Kevin it would take the Cavs at least 2 years to win the title and looking at Kevin's recent history he is very prone to the injury bug. He also states that Kevin Love does play great offense, but he lacks allot on the defensive end and Cleveland needs some one on defense to step up so that Lebron isn't doing it by himself. As far as Wiggins goes, his defense is ahead of his offense right now.
Another factor here is the salary cap. Even though Wiggins is a number 1 pick, you can still pay him less this year than you would be able to pay love and that means with extra money left over you can still add another play. Kevin Love is really a player you would want on your fantasy team, but teams that build their rosters as a fantasy team don't generally do that well.
RJ and Dave also take a look at the structure of the San Antonio Spurs, plus Dave feels that Houston will be a very good team next year. They won't win it all but should win 50+ games.
