Hey Harry, I am a follower of you and by in large I agree with your logic and how you think more often then not.
I just have one question and believe me, I'm not picking on you or breaking your shoes.
You did pretty well in your pick yesterday numberwise. However I assume you laid -525 ML to win "one" unit.
So you had a winning record and yet lost money for the day.
You also are one of the biggest preachers of money management.
So A.......How can you preach money management and lay over 5-1 on any event.
and B........If you were preaching to players who need to follow money management more, what would be the highest you would suggest betting on moneyline. Would that number be -150? Would it be -200? Maybe it is -525 because you might say value is value.
I m just curious on what you think, and believe me I m not bagging on you, just trying to learn from someone who seems to have his act together, almost 25 years my elder.
Best of Luck
Billy Barou - Thank you for the reply. I am sorry to appear as being a "preacher" of anything. I have never suggested anyone to do anything they can't afford to do. Moneylines are far more sophisticated than one might think, and I happen to do well with them over the years.
However, I now realize, that by your questions, which are great ones, and I mean that, I simply could never have enough time or space for appropriate dialogue, to fairly answer your questions in toto. For that reason, I am no longer going to post any moneyline selections, as it simply causes too much controversy, and discussion. There is no simple answer to the questions surrounding wagering on moneylines. It took me 30 years of reading books, talking to handicappers like Bob Martin, who made the first Super Bowl line and many others who resided in Vegas when I lived there, to learn what I'd like to be able to type in this thread. I simply do not have the time.
More specifically I did lay -525, but I also had numerous other winners, one nice moneyline winner Tuesday night, and one Monday night. Unfortunately some only want to mention the losers. No player owes anyone a explanation regarding how much he or she is winning. So why should I?
In closing, its simply not worth the debating and complaining others have to read about, when a moneyline selection loses. That should tell you volumns.
So to be clear, I will only post straight plays (selections) and hopefully avoid any controversy. For those who played the moneylines I posted the last few posts, and had a grip on how to play them accordingly, I'm sorry I won't be posting them any longer. Good luck to you Billy, and if you look hard enough, you will find many books on sports wagering that address wagering on moneylines.
Best of luck to you.
Harry.......Really didn't mean "preach" How about calling it a sound philosophy
Continued success my friend, I totally understand your reply.
good idea begger, that ends the drama for others if the ML loses.. Can you give me some tips you learned from Bobby Martin? would love to hear them
Billy- If you have the "stroke" to convince RJ to let Gill do a podcast, whereby I can prepare myself to make a proper and fully easy to comprehend explanation, of not only my theories, but the theories of those I leaned from, "Wagering Using Moneylines in Sports", I'm ready! When that forum is offered, I can promise anyone who listens, will understand this subject in its entirety. But to "cherry pick" and discuss a topic like this without a fair amount of time, hosted by someone like Gill Alexander, would not only be counter productive, but grossly unfair to those who already have a grip on the subject and those who don't. GL!
Rawls- On my way to the dentist. Not a pleasant place to go.
I will share some notes with you on Mr. Martin at a later time and date. Have a good day.
Horses today my friend. I Hope - Gary Ack
