Have you heard? The Lakers did not get LaMarcus.
But did the Lakers have a Title shot anyway? After all, the Media, you know all the guys saying the exact same thing, are the ones that have told us that Kobe is Old and a ball hog. So then why do act as if the Aldridge was the missing piece.
(No shot at Pauly. It was just a catchy line and he happened to be saying the thing that the Rest of the Media is saying)
The Media is doing its usually Lazy work here with the Lakers story. Everyone parroting the same take: "The Lakers are Failing in Free Agency"
Question: Did anyone believe that the Lakers would be a Championship contender this year?
Would ANY, and I mean ANY, free agent suddenly have made them a contender?
So why ALL of the palaver, to use a favorite word of Ex-Commish Stern?
Why, because people love to talk about the pretty high school cheerleader, especially after she has broken her and nose now looks like she could be in the school band.
This is how we know that it is June--we have nothing else to yell about.
Seriously, everyone's stern talk has us believing that LaMarcus Aldridge is the missing piece for the Lakers. REALLY?
What exactly did the Trail Blazers do WITH him? Did I miss all of their banner ceremonies?
So the Lakers had a chance to be great, huh, bored Media? Isn't Kobe just a ball hogging, injury riddled aging star anyway? That's the narrative is it not? Then why would ANY free agency make this Laker team a contender?
Its a Lazy take and boring one.
Only one team can win the Trophy. Only one could land LaMarcus. But somehow the Lakers are the team that "failed" at free agency--whatever that means. Who's else "failed"?
The Lakers are who they are. A team, rich in history and poor in future hope. A squad with an aging star and a brand name that everyone loves to talk about.
Ask yourself who the Mavericks pick up in free agency? Anything? I guess that means, unlike the Lakers, the Mavs DID NOT "Fail in free agency" ... Again, whatever that means.
Relax media, Football is almost here and you can once again entertain us with the Blood Sport we REALLY Care about, not the made up, starved contrived June topics.
