Good Afternoon PreGamers!
As a situational handicapper, I really do look out for these types of match ups.
The Knicks come into Sunday’s game having won 4 of their last 6 games and are playing the best basketball of their season to date. They are 5-1 ATS over those 6 games and have won three consecutive home games, including a win over the Thunder on January 28th. It would seem the trip to London for the NBA Global Game has helped the Knicks regroup after an awful start to the season.
The LA Lakers snapped a 9 game losing streak on Thursday night with a huge win over the Chicago Bulls but are still 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games. After the big win 3 nights ago, I really do feel that this Laker squad are in for a major let down spot today. You have to go back to December 12th the last time the Lakers won two straight games.
Derek Fisher really has his New York team playing with a lot more motivation and since returning back to the states from London, they have really taken care of the basketball, turning the ball over just over 10 times per game.
Another factor to consider is that this will the third straight New York game chalked off of national television and that doesn’t sit well with Carmelo Anthony. “The last three games we were supposed to be on national television, so they took us off,” Anthony told reporters. “But they’ll want us back on there soon. They’ll want us back.” Extra motivation by one of the best scorers in the league and a player that averaged 32 PPG in 2 match ups against the Lakers last season. I’ll lay the -2.5 with the Knicks today.
NEW YORK KNICKS - 2.5
