#1: Atlanta Hawks +4.5
Wizards played an emotional game against the Cavs on Friday, then they needed a comeback in the 2nd half @ Milwaukee just to win that one, and after a few days off, they’ll travel to CLE for a rematch against the Cavaliers tomorrow night. Of course in the meantime they have a game against the Hawks today. I believe this is a tough spot for Washington. I’m sure they want to have a good showing @ Cleveland tomorrow, to show everyone that their win last week wasn’t a fluke. Could they potentially overlook this Atlanta team today? Quiet possibly. Hawks are excellent offensively (9th in OffEff), can shoot the ball very well (5th in eFG%), and have the depth to rival that of the Wizards. With Nene out today, it should be easier for Atlanta to defend the paint, an area they struggle with. I believe we’ll see a very competitive game here and points could definitely come into play in this one.
#2: Chicago Bulls +1 (1st Half ONLY)
The Bulls played last night, and though they had 2-days off prior to it, Denver is a tough place to play and I’m more comfortable backing Chicago in the 1st half only in this b2b spot. Both Gasol and Rose played for the first time in a week or so, so they should be fairly fresh for Chicago tonight. In addition, Bulls should have the size advantage in critical spots here. Gasol and Noah over Mozgov/Faried and Rose over Lawson. Chicago’s ability to get to the FT-line and Denver’s propensity to send teams there (30th in FT-rate allowed) should be the difference as I expect Bulls to attack the paint and get to the line in this one.
Good Luck
