This team seems to have absolutely no direction...I've watched them draft, trade for and pursue talented, yet inefficient players with attitude problems as if they felt the rest of the league would gobble them up first. They also have no problem in duplicating talent...currently, they are rumored to be in the market for...wait for it...Josh Smith. Talented? yep Inefficient? yep Attitude concerns? yep
You just knew that DeMarcus Cousins would fall to them a few years back...and it's really unfortunate, because around a group of vets with leadership: DeMarcus could be a superstar. Instead, he compiles numbers and is a ticking time bomb. Who's the leader on this team? Rudy Gay? Talented? yep Inefficient? yep Attitude concerns? yep...
Following the DeMarcus draft (which was actually a great value pick at 5)...the Kings have taken a shooting guard three years in a row. (Jimmer, McLemore, Stauskas). Modern NBA 2 guards are a dying breed; you really want combo guards. Not one of these three are capable of playing the point.
They just dealt away Isiah Thomas, last year's point guard. Chip on that kids shoulder, kind of liked him; even though he was a shoot first, inefficient PG. He played with heart and had the chip of being picked last in his draft class. Who'd they bring in to be the starting PG? Darren Bleepin Collison!!!
I could write for days about Collison. He's a shoot first PG, who doesn't score the ball particularly well and is an awful distributer. Don't worry though...he balances this out by playing horrendous defense. The Kings roster looks more like a fantasy lineup, guys just thrown together without regard for chemistry (ala Dan Snyder's old Redskins free agent frenzy teams). I just have no idea where management is going with this roster.
Josh Smith will likely be coming to this team...someone will inevitably fight him for the plethora of 20 footers he's going to take.
