Sleeping giants no more
5/2/17
Wizards +5.5 -110 at Celtics
When you first read the headline many probably thought I was referring to Boston but I'm not. Many consider Washington’s game 1 loss in Boston as an epic collapse but I view it as something that was expected. Less than 48 hours after finishing off the Atlanta Hawks, Washington had to travel to Boston for game 1 so fatigue was always going to play a role in the series opener.
I believe there were many factors that went Boston’s way in game 1 that probably won’t go their way in game 2 tonight. A perfect storm you might say with Morris getting injured in the 2nd quarter to go along with Jae Crowder and Boston’s remarkable 3 point shooting is just something that can’t be relied upon on a consistent basis in this series. I mean, it can but it’s just asking a lot for them to continue to repeat that type of show.
Gamblers tend to forget quite easily that Chicago took 2 games in Boston and they were clearly on a path for a sweep only for their PG Rondo to go down with an injury which altered the series dramatically. I don’t forget and John Wall is better than Rondo in every aspect. In all the years I’ve been watching the NBA, these Boston Celtics are not your prototypical #1 seed. They don’t wow you and some may argue they were on the lucky end of many close basketball games this season.
Washington had 13 turnovers in the game but 8 came in the 3rd which leads me to believe fatigue was already starting to set in which again was expected. Given the bad blood between these two teams and given what happened in game 1 point swing wise, one can expect Washington to be ready for the entire 48 minute span tonight because they won't be sleeping giants in the 2nd half no more.
