I do think that LeBron, Blatt & company just might let the Warriors do what they do in Game 1 so that they have data on them
I disagree. Cavs have a seasons worth of data and have been prepping all week. Whether the Cavs can execute the defensive gameplan is another question. The Cavs D has improved significantly (even adjusting for opponent strength) in the playoffs. A big reason for the improvement is due to it being far less aggressive on D. Opp Turnvover rate has decreased but Opp eFG has also gone way down. Problem is, Cavs can't go under screens and drop back against Curry and Thompson. Mosgov and TT will have to show hard and Cavs will also have to switch screens like Houston did.
Some more thoughts on the Cavs D vs GSW...Cavs opp 3pt% for the playoffs is UNsustainability low. Cavs don't have many plus-defenders outside of Shump and LeBron (when he isn't gassed from his insane usage rate). Can Kyrie guard anyone? GSW will force the Cavs D into its old, more aggressive scheme and i don't think the Cavs have the talent or experience rotating together to stop the Warriors.
So all that said, think we may be all on the same page liking GSW in game 1
