I really like the Kings in this spot tonight to bounce back after a sluggish second half effort in their opener. Sacramento hasn't lost their first two home games to start a season since 1997, and I think that streak stays alive after they beat the Blazers tonight. This game is sandwiched between two big home games for the Blazers, defeating the Thunder on Wednesday night in their home opener and battling the GS Warriors at home on Sunday. I am expecting a little bit of a peak ahead from these Blazers, to the more formidable Warriors, especially since those Warriors "blew out" these Kings on Wednesday. However looking deeper into that afformentioned "blow out", the Kings were in the game, even leading late in the 3rd quarter, until the wheels fell off. The Kings really struggled shooting the ball, which can be attributed to the Warriors solid perimeter defense. This match up tonight will give them some relief in that department, as the Blazers are not on the same level defensively as the Warriors. I look for Rudy Gay to get his tonight and Darren Collison to really take it to Lillard on the offensive end, and be able to run the offense effectively. Boobie Cousins will be force fed and he will be able to have his way inside against Robin Lopez or LA, whoever tries to slow him down. Defense is going to be the problem for the Kings tonight as the Blazers can really score, but at home in front of an excited crowd, in a spot where they play @ the Clippers on Sunday, I expect max effort from them on both ends of the floor and for them to be able to make enough stops on D. Losing to the Warriors and having the Clips on deck in the Staples Center, realistically another loss on the horizon, this home game against the Blazers takes on extreme importance for this team. They do not want to start 0-3 and then have a home and away set vs the Denver Nuggets, another up and coming team in the West. This spot calls for an all out, max effort from the Kings tonight, playing an opponent who doesn't often play defense. I expect the crowd to be behind their Kings this Halloween night, for the Kings to gain confidence when their shots are falling alot easier than their first game, and for the home dog to pull out the outright upset victory, therefore I am making the Sacramento Kings +6 (or +5 depending on the book) and 25% of that bet on the Kings ML +190, my NBA Forum Play of the Day.
