In my profession, I get paid to pretty much argue anything. But in picking baseball, only one thing matters: results. Period. And there is no argument against results...they are what they are, good or bad. Fortunately for me, mine are very good. If you're into playing sports, just look for results. If you check out the MLB "Streaks" section of pregame.com, you'll see me, and others, at the top of the various leaderboards. And there's not even a close second. Not bragging at all, we all have our runs, just pointing out that results are the ONLY thing that matters.
Based on my definition of "handicapper", I am not a handicapper...I am a picker. I am a business owner by trade, so I let the professionals in Vegas who have nothing but time on their hands do the handicapping (and they should as they are quite good at it).
All I do is pick. Although I do make picks in all sports, MLB is by far & away the easiest sport for one to make profitble picks. Picking the play is the easy part; determining the value of the line (for sides or run lines) is where analysis comes in to play.
Because I don't need to be a professional handicapper to earn a living, I don't sell my picks. I don't have a website with colorful graphics touting a 5-star pick, a "lock" of the week, etc. The obvious reality is that no type of marketing reflects the ability to make a profit in sports wagering. The ONLY thing that reflects the profiability of a picker is a documented record of picks. Fortunately, this site provides that documentation. Any person can view every single pick I've made on this site. Even better, we can all see everybody's picks; this shows how difficult it is to actually be profitable in picking sports.
For what it's worth (or if it even matters at all), I'll continue to post all my picks on this site for the moment (my entire 2012 season was posted). I'm not sure what I'll do after that. However, if anyone is interested, feel free to drop me an email at notjwr@live.com. Because of my life-long interest in picking sports (my father was a professional gambler in Las Vegas) I enjoy communicating with others about picking sports, exchanging analyses, etc. Information & knowledge is everything in picking sports, so I'm happy to exchange thoughts & ideas with fellow players.
I thank JR and all other contributors (including members) to this site as I believe it is informative and entertaining.
And, of course, Vegas isn't going to go broke if a select few sports book players consistently win, so I sincerely wish everyone the best of success in your endeavors!
