Star [*] Is "More" Really "Better" ?

I've read the "Bookie Bill To Post Here?"  thread and if you'll see that Sawstea has a "?" at the end of his statement. It looks like he's questioning the wisdom of this. I read thru the thread & since this is "our" forum, let's take a poll.

    My thoughts about this are:

I don't feel it is a wise decision. It has to be hard for the Pros to make any money with more cappers being added. It looks like the regular forum guys are getting pissed off because they have to sift through more & more "tout threads". For these reasons, I don't see how "more is better"

    Is "More" Really "Better"

Vote "Yes" if you feel More Pro Cappers is Better

Vote "No" if you feel Fewer "Pro" Cappers is Better

Re: Is "More" Really "Better" ?

Whenever there is a question like this on the forum i ALWAYS look at it from a business standpoint, because that's what pregame is, a business.  I voted 'Yes' mainly because in the last three or four months i've seen tons and tons of new members contribute some great opinions and great analysis.  The best way to get new members on this site is for them to be attracted by the pro cappers of Pregame.  I can guarantee you these newbies aren't finding the site by googling "Straguzzi" or "SacLunch" ... the cappers are what bring people to our site in the first place, so the more names we have on the pregame lineup the greater chance we have of landing new members.  New members, as i've explained before, are ALWAYS good.  Provides more info, plus provides increased revenue for Pregame which allows them to invest in the quality of the site and some of the fun things like contests and reward programs.

I, too, agree that at times it seems like they're just adding cappers to add cappers, and i'd like to see some of the cappers that aren't performing pushed to do so, rather than just add new guys on top of them.  But i cannot deny the business instinct in me that says more money for pregame is never a bad thing for the members.  Yes we'll have to trench through more bullshit to find non tout posts, but there's a solid core of individuals that have been here for a while now that know where to look for good content, and know where they kind find their buddies for good conversation on the forums.

Completely understand why people get frustrated with everything being at a cost, and tout after tout being hired on... but in the end, think of how much this site has improved since day 1 (obviously i wasn't around, but still)... The reason for the improvement is because of the growth and revenue pregame has sustained mainly from the procapper program which has allowed them to invest back into the site and make it what it is right now...

It was brought up & a lot of us have concerns. I've seen some other people's views I did not consider. So, yes, it is a good question.

Cappers are going to leave; members are going to leave. There's more.

I'm with SacLunch - I don't think it hurts that much to add another one. If you don't like his work, ignore it, no?

Re: Is "More" Really "Better" ?

The business model here is to pool the top cappers on one site. The strongest talent pool on one site on the Internet... As a paid capper, and having been on huge portals like Vegas Insiders for awhile (as an example), there are limited cappers there however like VI for instance (which is a total joke)...80% are in house cappers (not independents like here) and those sites tend to lean more towards their affiliation for sportsbook signups than providing winners.  On my site I have 15 guys.....and that is about right...but traffic there versus here is night and day.  It depends on the site and the level of content in terms of capper ratio.  The bottom line, if you are hot they buy, and if not...they dont....you as a capper control your destiny...a tough job in this business trust me.

ALL ABOUT OPTIONS:  RJ here wants to give you options, when some are hot, others are not and then it comes full circle, that is gambling.  Chances are the more guys you have, that means more hot cappers out of that pool for the customer to choose from....There is no capper that has not proved his worth at some point to get on th elist,  and the high number of cappers here forces you to raise your game or get lost in the shuffle.  That benefitrs customers.......

Are there allot of cappers here?  Maybe, but the upside is in favor of the clients and pregame as a whole.  IMO that is what pregame is after....and to be honest none of us highly tout stuff like Lang, Root, Feist and others....there is allot of substance here that benefits the players....more so than any other I can see...IMO you may be looking a gift horse in the mouth.....

      Just my 2 cents.

Nicely put Tony and agree just as long as RJ and crew don't lose sight of the business model and plan that currently makes Pregame what it is today.

Sac- having been here from day 1, I can tell you that the forums themselves have taken somewhat of a beating. Other parts of the site have improved greatly, but the forums themselves have downgraded. And of course, the forum is basically what I use here!
