First and foremost. A sincere thanks to those who came along for the March madness package. It was a good run and we wrapped it up in style with the winner on the Huskies in the title game. But, this is the world of sports betting and that is already ancient history.
As I scanned today's moments from our past a couple of items jumped out at me. First of all it was on this date in 1959 that the Celtics won their first of EIGHT straight NBA titles! Think about that guys, 8 straight titles. I cannot see that ever be repeated. I remember the tail end of that run and watching some epic battles between the Lakers and Celtics and watching Wilt and Russell battle one another down in the post. It was good stuff. The other item is of the much lighter variety. It was on this date back in 1965 that the Houston Astrodome hosted it's first baseball game. One thing I particularly recall about that is the fact they tried to grow grass in the thing at first. Really? Obviously that had a bad outcome and it ended up being one of the first to put down the artificial crap. Wasn't long and the fake turf was everywhere. I liked what slugger Ritchie Allen said, he remarked that if a cow can't eat it he didn't want to play on it. I remember Busch Stadium with that stuff and sitting down close to the field in the box seats in a mid summer afternoon game. The heat was unreal. They said the field temperature would approach 140 degrees, I believe it. Thankfully that crap is history and the games are played on the real thing now. Damn glad the game out grew that fad. The poor football players were playing basically on a rug thrown over some asphalt.
Okay, a free selection. Going to the NBA and suggesting a small wager on #702 the Magic plus the points hosting the Nets. No I'm not a Magic believer suddenly, just a lousy spot here for the Nets in my opinion. Much of the league action now from a betting standpoint revolves around picking your spots, much like the Pistons over the Hawks last night. I think this is a lousy position for a veteran team like Brooklyn.
On the business side I have no featured release loaded at this time. Clearly this does zero good for sales. But I don't over tag games for that purpose. I am looking forward to the NBA post season. I am going to pretty much throw myself into the playoffs. The regular season and post season in the league are like night and day. I can tell you I went the ENTIRE regular season without a triple star in league action. That should say something. But when the post season get's rolling I will come out swinging, hard. Okay, back to work guys. Thanks and best of luck with your action today guys!
